Eyelid Surgery

Age isn’t found in a number but can be found in your eyes. Are your eyes telling people you’re older than you are?

What is Eyelid Surgery?

Eyelid surgery also known as blepharoplasty or an “eyelid lift,” is a surgical rejuvenating procedure that can be performed on upper and/or lower eyelids.  As we age, the production and organization of collagen and elastin decrease and may result in sagging, “puffy”, or unwanted eyelid skin. By removing the excess skin and fat we tighten the skin around the eyes ultimately enhancing the appearance and restoring your self-confidence.

Eyelid surgery is a relatively minor cosmetic procedure that can be performed in a surgical facility or in a medical office setting. Dr. Chamberlain will evaluate and discuss all available options to provide you with the most comfortable and safest experience possible.

Are You a Candidate?

You may be a candidate for eyelid surgery, if you are experiencing:

Loose skin draping from the upper eyelids, sometimes may even impair your vision.
Your eyelids appear puffy and/or you have notable bags or lines under your eyes.
Excess skin hiding the natural fold of the upper eyelids.
Droopiness of the lower eyelids revealing the sclera (white part) of the eye below the colored area.

What is recovery like?

Most patients experience mild to moderate swelling post-surgery, and minimal pain. You will receive extensive post operative instructions and have access to a physician 24/7 for any additional questions or concerns. Some of your post operative instructions are listed below (please refer to your lid packet given at your preop appointment for complete list):

Cold compress with moderate pressure to your eyes for the first 3 hours after surgery and then for 20 (twenty) minute periods every hour while awake for the first 3 days.
No bending or lifting for the first 7-10 days.
Ointment to be applied to the incision sites 3 times a day.
Sleeping elevated for the first week.
Sutures can be removed 10-14 days after surgery.
Most patients are able to return to work 1 week after surgery depending on your duties and gradually resume physical activity after 2-4 weeks.

IPL Photofacial

Uncover a healthy, glowing complexion with IPL Photofacial! Reverse the signs of sun damage! Remove unwanted facial veins! Reduce uneven skin tone and rosacea! Stop concealing your skin’s imperfections and get the glowing results you desire with minimal downtime!

What is an IPL Photofacial?

IPL Photofacial/Skin revitalization is a non-surgical treatment that will improve your skin’s appearance, quickly and easily. This advanced light-based technology clears undesirable brown spots, sun damage and vessels, revealing clearer skin.

How does it work?

Specialized pulses target brown spots, sun damage and vessels without harming the surrounding skin. The light delivered to your skin causes them to slowly disappear through your body’s natural healing process.

What results can you anticipate?

Expect to see a decrease in the appearance of brown spots, sun damage, acne, hair and vessels for a more even skin tone. A series of treatments may be needed for desired results. Treatment plans can be adjusted to fit everyone’s lifestyle – Dr. Chamberlain will discuss your desired downtime, comfort, and results during your consultation.

Skin Resurfacing

REVERSE the signs of aging and REPAIR your skin with our ICON 1540 and 2940 Resurfacing Lasers.

Treatment includes the use of a skin renewal laser designed to decrease the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles in the skin. Laser skin rejuvenation causes collagen reproduction which causes the skin to tighten. The results are younger and healthier looking skin. We offer two types of laser resurfacing: Ablative and Non-Ablative.

Non-Ablative Skin Resurfacing

Non Ablative lasers often are fractional which means they deliver heat into the skin through thousands of tiny, deep columns known as microthermal treatment zones. This allows the skin to heal much faster than if the entire area was treated. This approach lessens the recovery period and reduces the number of complications that can occur. Multiple sessions are needed in most cases.

Ablative Skin Resurfacing

Ablative laser is described as the process of removing the top layers of the skin to reduce cutaneous signs of photoaging. Ablative laser skin resurfacing may be used in the cases of facial wrinkles, scarring, actinic keratosis, and seborrheic keratosis.

The Ablative laser uses an intense beam of light energy directed at your skin. The beam of light destroys the outer layer of skin (epidermis). While this is happening the laser heats the underlying skin (dermis) which stimulates collagen production over time. The results are better skin tone and texture. This approach usually needs only one treatment.

What is Botox®?

Botox is an injectable that temporarily improves the appearance of moderate to severe forehead lines, frown lines, and crows feet in adults. Repeated muscle contractions from frowning, squinting, or raising eyebrows cause skin to furrow and fold, gradually resulting in the formation of facial lines. BOTOX® Cosmetic works beneath the surface to temporarily reduce underlying muscle activity that causes moderate to severe lines in the face.

Fillers

What is Juvéderm?

Dermal fillers help to diminish facial lines and restore volume and fullness in the face.As we age, our faces naturally lose volume from diminishing subcutaneous fat. The
facial muscles are then closer to the skin surface causing fine lines and crows feet to become more apparent.

Hyaluronic Acid (HA) is a sugar naturally produced by the body that retains moisture in the skin. The main ingredient in JUVÉDERM ®  fillers is a modified form of HA. JUVÉDERM ®  fillers temporarily restore volume loss in certain areas of the face for long-lasting, natural-looking results. Dermal fillers are used to:

Plump thin lips
Enhance shallow contours
Soften facial creases and wrinkles
Improve the appearance of recessed scars
Reconstruct contour deformities in the face
Decrease or remove the shadow of the lower lids

Dermal fillers can be very helpful in those with early signs of aging, or as a value-added part of facial rejuvenation procedures.
